The promise

The hallmark is the proof.

An independent guarantee of purity — struck by law, not by us.

Since 1773

Birmingham Assay Office.

Every Heavy Lies piece is independently tested and hallmarked at Birmingham Assay Office — the largest in the world, working since 1773. UK law only requires a hallmark above 7.78 grams; we strike every piece regardless. They test the metal, then mark it. It's a legal guarantee that what you're wearing is genuinely 925 sterling silver.

It's the difference between a piece that holds its value, and one that's just silver-coloured.

The four marks, explained.

01

Sponsor's mark

Who made it. Our registered maker's mark, unique to Heavy Lies.

02

Fineness mark

925 — the purity. 92.5% pure silver, the sterling standard.

03

Assay office

The anchor of Birmingham, where the piece was independently tested.

04

Date letter

The year it was assayed — a small piece of provenance.

If it couldn't pass assay, it isn't solid silver. Ours passes — every piece.
The Heavy Lies standard

Wear the real thing.

Every Heavy Lies piece is solid 925 — and every piece is hallmarked, even where the law doesn't require it.
